The Balut Kiki Project

76: PWD Rold - LGBTQ+Profiles

The Balut Kiki Project | BUNK Collective Season 2 Episode 76

Hey Bessie, send us a text message!

MATURE CONTENT WARNING.

Patuloy tayo featuring different queer stories! Meet our bagong  Bessie na si ROLD.
Rold is a PWD or a person with disability who uses a wheelchair for his mobility. He insists that people like him deserve to have a positive identity. We heartfully agree!
He is also an education graduate who is on his way to gaining a post-graduate degree and a fabulous member of our queer community!

Alamin natin ang kanyang mga pangarap at kung ano ang ilan sa mga difficulties, pet peeves, and triumphs na unique sa isang queer-PWD living in the Philippines.

Mga Bessies, maraming pulot sa kiki na ito about the dos and don'ts when dealing with PWDs and us, queer people. And who better to help us than somebody who is a certified-Bessie?

Follow Rold on Instagram or Twitter.

PS/
Bes, nandito ka na rin lang, here are some tips when interacting with individuals with disabilities:

  • Always ask before you help
  • People desire to be independent and treated with respect
  • Be respectful about physical contact
  • Consider their equipment as part of their personal space
  • Think before you speak
  • Speak directly to the person
  • Never make assumptions

If you read that back again, you might realize that they're just like everybody else!
